Import restrictions for Lithuania 🇱🇹

General information

These rules are useful both for people carrying items across the border themselves and for those sending a parcel with a fellow traveller. You may import goods worth up to EUR 300 (by land) or EUR 430 (by sea or air) duty-free. For persons under 15, the limit is EUR 150. If the limit is exceeded, you must fill out a passenger declaration.

💰 Cash

You may bring in any amount, but when carrying more than EUR 10,000 you must fill out a declaration and a supplementary sheet (this can also be done electronically). Banknotes, coins, gold bars, traveller's cheques and other securities are counted. Personal jewellery is not counted.

🚬 Tobacco and alcohol

You may import alcohol duty-free:

• up to 1 L of spirits (over 22%) or up to 2 L of low-alcohol drinks (up to 22%, other than wine and beer);
• up to 4 L of still wine;
• up to 16 L of beer.

The spirits and low-alcohol allowances are not cumulative (for example, 0.5 L of brandy and 1 L of liqueur are allowed, but 1 L of cognac and 2 L of an energy drink are not), but 4 L of wine and 16 L of beer may be imported at the same time.

Cigarettes by land — no more than:

• 40 cigarettes;
• 20 cigarillos;
• 10 cigars;
• 50 g of tobacco;
• 20 ml of vape liquid;
• 40 tobacco sticks.

By air or sea — no more than:

• 200 cigarettes;
• 100 cigarillos;
• 50 cigars;
• 250 g of tobacco;
• 50 ml of vape liquid;
• 200 tobacco sticks.

Tobacco types (other than sticks and liquids) are not cumulative: 10 cigars and 40 cigarettes at the same time are not allowed, but 20 cigarettes and 5 cigars are.

🍕 Food

From non-EU countries (except for some states), it is prohibited to import any meat and dairy products.

In small quantities (up to 2 kg), pet food and baby food for medical reasons are allowed, as well as other animal products (for example, honey).

Any plants, fruit and vegetables without a phytosanitary certificate are prohibited; the exception is pineapples, coconuts, durians, bananas and dates. Fish — up to 20 kg, caviar — up to 125 g.

💊 Medicines

For personal use, you may import up to 10 of the smallest packages. For a large amount, provide prescriptions stating the doctor's name, the address of the medical facility and the patient's full name (issued in the name of the person carrying the medicine), issued no earlier than 6 months before the trip.

🐶 Pets

You may import dogs, cats, ferrets and birds into Lithuania. The animals must have veterinary passports confirming they belong to the passenger, with vaccination records, as well as chips. For a pet from a third country not on the EU's list of rabies-controlled countries, a rabies antibody test is additionally required (it is not needed for the USA, Canada, Japan and a number of other countries — it depends on the country of departure). If the pet's value exceeds EUR 1,000, a passenger declaration is filled out.

🌸 Plants

Live plants, seeds and seedlings may not be imported into Lithuania without a phytosanitary certificate.

❌ Prohibited without special permits:

• narcotic substances;
• weapons;
• items of cultural and historical value;
• dual-use goods, etc.
